How's the Weather?  The best place to find up-to-the-minute weather and forecasts for the top of Sugar Mountain is Ray's Weather.  They are the local weather "specialists" for the High Country and surrounding areas.  Go to

Avery County Chamber of Commerce:  This site offers a wealth of information for visitors and residents alike. The Town of Banner Elk:  (From their website}  "Banner Elk is in the center of The High Country and is the ski capitol of the South. This is the destination for thousands of people who love the great outdoors and southern culture."  It's also close by our condo and a convenient place to shop, dine, enjoy a stroll through the park and lots more.  Discover it all, and what the area has to offer at   townofbannerelk.org

Sugar Mountain Resort:  Ski in the winter, hike and bike in the spring, summer and fall - this place has it all.  Our condo looks down on the ski slopes and you can view all the action during the winter months.  We are also served by their shuttle bus during the ski season, making it very convenient for our wintertime guests.  Learn all about their activities and events at

Village of Sugar Mountain:  Yep - we even have a little township here!   And they sponsor a helpful website which contains lots of helpful info about the area, and some of the things you can do.  Check it out here   seesugar.com

The Blue Ridge Parkway:  What a blessing it is to have the famous, beautiful Parkway wind through our area!  Stunning overlooks, hiking, picnicking, and attractions abound, seemingly around every curve.  If you've yet to experience this most-visited National Parks Highway, be sure to include it in your vacation to-do list - and bring your "photo device."  Explore more here:   nps.gov/blri/index

Grandfather Mountain:  A trip to the area would not be complete without a short drive over to Grandfather Mountain! Our own building lobby:  You’ll find two info kiosks on the ground level - one at the main entrance and another near the entrance to the swimming pool.  These are kept full of area info in the form of a vast assortment of tracts and brochures. There are usually items available at the front desk as well, such as our local, seasonal High Country magazine (see “High Country Host” above).
